Tips for Staging This Winter
The Canadian winter is the real deal. Softly falling snow, icicles along the roofline, gentle white hills…we’ve got it all. Of course, many people think that a true winter wonderland scene is best enjoyed from inside. If you’re selling your home throughout the colder seasons, it pays to stage it with a cozy environment in mind.
Here are some seasonally-appropriate tips:
Use warm and cozy textures
Give your home some warmth, literally. Try accenting your couch with a chunky-knit throw or some mohair cushions. Toss a cable-knit or fur blanket across your bed or replace your duvet with a warmer, more textured fabric.
Embrace fall and winter colours
Warm reds, oranges and neutrals are very prominent both indoors and outdoors during the cooler seasons. Use this to your advantage when accenting your home. Whether it’s a deep orange bouquet, or a burgundy candle display, this is the time to embrace that palette.
Be seasonal but inclusive
Remember, not everyone celebrates a religious holiday. Embracing seasonal décor is one thing, but limit your use of religious-based, holiday-themed accents.
Keep the outdoors safe and tidy
If you’re selling a detached home, make sure it’s easy to access. This means shovelling snow in your drive and on the sidewalk and making sure any front steps are clear of ice and snow.
Don’t think of the winter as a deterrent for potential buyers, but as an opportunity for you to show off what a cozy haven your home can be when it’s cold outside.
