(MCT)—“Bubble Hill” — the former Englewood home of comedian and movie star Eddie Murphy that has languished on the market since 2004 — may finally have a buyer.
Broker Dennis McCormack confirmed Monday that the 25,000-square-foot, 30-room mansion on Brayton Street “is under contract” with a potential buyer, whom he would not identify. He also would not disclose the selling price.
Murphy, who paid $3.5 million for the 5.4-acre estate in 1985, according to tax records, originally listed the property at $30 million in 2004 as the real estate bubble was rising to a peak. The price was reduced several times over the years and was last listed at $12.75 million.
Murphy, who bought the property as a bachelor, reportedly named the estate for the slang term for party: bubble.
The gated property includes a guesthouse that is large enough itself to be considered a mansion. The main house has a bowling alley, a pool, racquetball and tennis courts, a screening room and a recording studio.
