Vaynerchuk adds there’s nothing wrong with a real estate agent doing some work pro bono for a client if it will lead to referrals down the line.
Site Tips
Just being on social media sites is not enough. You have to know the best way to utilize each one. For instance, Vaynerchuk says the luxury customer is on Pinterest and Facebook, so those sites should be tailored around those clients.
For Twitter, he suggests riding hashtags, which means leveraging trending topics in real-time tweets (as compared to pre-scheduled tweets). This will lead to higher engagement levels within an existing community. For example, mentioning your open house in an existing hashtag will increase your visibility.
When making videos for YouTube, Vaynerchuk says that homemade videos are better than professionally polished ones. “Too many people think real estate agents are slick, so anything that brings authenticity adds value,” he says.
Final Thoughts
Although he didn’t have time in his webinar to discuss new social media sites, Vaynerchuk says he is experimenting with Wanelo.com and Medium.com, and real estate agents should take a look at these sites. Medium.com deals with telling a personal story that you can share with others, while Wanelo.com is a site that offers interesting items to purchase.
