Apartment rents, on average, rose by $5 in January to $1,315, according to data compiled from 124 markets recently released in a report by Yardi® Matrix.

The leading areas for growth in January were Sacramento, Calif., Seattle, Wash., California’s Inland Empire, Phoenix, Ariz., and Nashville, Tenn.
