Many of us live very busy lifestyles, packed with jobs and family responsibilities with little time to accomplish everything. It’s no wonder you may feel like crawling back under the covers every once in a while.

There are things you can do, however, to make the going much simpler. Life doesn’t have to be so complicated all the time. In between the hustle and bustle of life’s busyness, make sure to pause and regenerate.

Here are six things to incorporate into your life that may make the going a whole lot easier for you:

1. Stop worrying about things that don’t really matter. There’s an old adage that says worrying is placing your focus on those things that you don’t want to have happen. How counter-productive is that? If something is bothering you, ask yourself if it’s really going to be important six months from now. If the answer is no, let it go.

2. Focus on the important stuff. When it comes to managing your time, you may be guilty of trying to do too much with too little time. When you’re working on something that’s important to you, try to do it in a place where you won’t be distracted, and allot yourself a specific time to work on it. You might find you finish in even less time than you imagined.

3. Get organized. When you know where things are, you’ll save valuable time searching for them, which can make your personal and business life so much easier. You’ll thank yourself for this small change in your life.

4. Declutter. One good rule of thumb is that if you haven’t worn or used something in a year, it’s time to get rid of it. Also, before you buy something, ask yourself if you really need it. Half the time you’ll realize you don’t. It’s also a great way of saving money for something you do really need—like a vacation, perhaps.

5. Make gradual changes. Frustration can lead to wanting to change everything in your life at once, but this is way too overwhelming, and will most likely lead to more stress. You might want to eat better, get up earlier, work out more and get out more. Choose one thing and work on it until you have mastered it and then move on to another. Have patience with yourself. When changes are made slowly, they’re more likely to stick.

6. Be compassionate. Showing compassion makes others feel wonderful, and you’ll also help yourself. You’ll reap so many rewards by being a positive influence in others’ lives. You’ll find that kindness and keeping things simple will reduce the stressors in your life by leaps and bounds.
