Potential buyers are going to get a lot more excited about your home if it has a liveable backyard or patio. When the weather is warm and the days are longer, nothing beats some outdoor living with friends and family. That’s why staging your outdoor space is just as key as staging your indoor space when you’re trying to sell. Think you need an A-list budget for a great outdoor look? Think again! Instead, try these tips:
Upgrade a basic bistro set. A plain metal bistro set from Ikea or your local outdoor supply store can look cheerful and modern with a bright coat of spray paint or some mosaic tiles on top.
Add colour and texture to plain furniture. Dress up your neutral outdoor furniture, or even a plain wooden bench, with some outdoor throw cushions. Whether bright colours, contemporary patterns or fun textures like tassels, cushions instantly add intrigue and make your potential buyers want to take a seat and relax for a while.
Don’t forget your flooring. An outdoor rug can help tie a space together and give the outdoors a cozy, liveable feel. Consider a modern or colourful print rug, or for a small balcony, some wooden or all-weather tiles. This is a great way to add that finishing touch to an outdoor space.
Go for some statement planters. Oversized planters can be found for relatively affordable prices at hardware or gardening stores and you only need one or two to act as a statement piece. Consider a matte black or marble finish to add a luxurious touch and fill it with your favourite greenery.
A welcoming and buyer-friendly outdoor space doesn’t have to look expensive or elaborate. It does, however, help to look cheerful and useable, to give buyers a sense of how enjoyable it could be to spend time on their new deck or patio.
