While many see September as the beginning of fall, you’ll get much more out of your summer if you embrace the fact that it’s still summer for a few more weeks. Before you pack your bathing suit and shorts away for the fall and long winter, use these last few weekends of sunshine and warm weather to do the best things you can do when it’s still warm enough to hang out outside.
Throw a BBQ. If you didn’t already throw one over the Labour Day long weekend, make it a point to throw one before Sept. 24 hits. Invite all your friends, ask them to bring their favourite salad and drinks, and fire up the grill one last time before you tuck it in the garage for eights months.
Go to the beach one last time. While it might be getting a little too cool for a swim, it’s still warm enough to lay out and keep your tan alive a little longer before the grey skies return and quickly turn you back into a porcelain shade of white.
Go pool hopping. If you live in a larger city, there are probably at least a few public pools you can enjoy a little longer. If you live in a small town, you probably have at least one friend with a pool. Keep an eye on the weather and the pool schedule and find one more day to enjoy your bikini bod.
Take a bike ride through the prettiest part of your city. In a few months, the snow will arrive and you’ll forget you even have a bike, so take it for as many spins as possible while you still can. For the best experience, find a big park or trail you love and spend the day biking through it. Not only is it a great exercise you won’t be able to do outdoors for a few months, but you’ll also have a memorable view and an experience you’ll think of fondly all winter long.
