The New Year always brings in pressure to celebrate with your friends in a spectacular way. But you don’t always have to do that. Here are a few different options to spend New Year’s Eve before the new year hits.

Throw a party at home. Yes, you could go to someone else’s party and worry about nothing more than dressing up and showing up, but isn’t it even more convenient to be able to have a great night without even stepping outside and enduring the cold? When the clock hits midnight you can dictate when the party is over and soon be warm in your bed ready for a new year.

Travel somewhere exciting. The dead of winter is the best time of year to travel and escape Canada, and January is as wintry as it will ever get. You likely have some days off and have already spent enough time with relatives over the holidays, so New Year’s is the perfect time to head somewhere warm and see how a different corner of the world rings in the new year.

Attend the fanciest party you can find. If you’d rather go out and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the crowd on New Year’s Eve, make the effort to find the fanciest, most exclusive party in town. Maybe it’s not something you would do every year, but make the splurge for a one-time experience you will remember for many years to come.

Binge your favourite TV show. If taking it easy at home and avoiding the crowds and bars is more your style, use the evening to catch up on a show you’ve been meaning to watch, or re-watch an old favourite. It’s not only a comforting way to celebrate the new year, it’s a fun way to bond with your loved ones and enjoy each other’s company while celebrating the simplicity of an evening dedicated to Netflix and chilling.
