We spend about a third of our lives in bed, so it makes sense to invest in bed linens that make us feel comfortable, even pampered.
Here are some tips to help skip the guesswork the next time you go shopping for a new set of sheets.
Check the Fiber Content First
100% cotton is the go-to choice. Egyptian or Pima are the softest, most durable options. Cotton/polyester blends are cheaper and wrinkle less, but they have a synthetic feel.
Consider the Thread Count
300 – 500 thread counts are the sweet spots for softness and strength. Although you can find quality, 200-thread-count sheets, they may not be as comfortable.
Know the Difference Between Weaves
Percale is a basic, grid-like weave that feels light and crisp. Sateen feels silky smooth.
Be Sure the Sheets Will Fit Your Mattress
Standard sizes don’t account for mattress depth. Make sure to measure before you buy.
