If you’re looking to sell soon, or even just looking to upgrade your dated bathroom without going broke, there are options. If you’ve been putting it off because of budget restraints, fear not. You might not need to entirely gut it and start from scratch. In fact, you can create a modern and beautiful bathroom without spending all your savings. Here’s how:
Install new fixtures. This simple little change won’t cost you much and won’t require more than a few hours out of your day, but it can completely transform the look of your bathroom. Because fixtures tend to go out of style fast, they can be the one thing that makes your bathroom look dated. The shower heads that typically come with a home are basic, so take this opportunity to upgrade to that fancy massaging one you’ve always wanted.
Change the mirrors. Mirrors can be another dead giveaway that your home is dated, depending on how aged they look and what shape and style they are. Round mirrors look better than square, but generally, larger is better. A full-sized mirror taking up the whole space above the sink will not only make your bathroom look fresh and modern, but also make it appear larger.
A fresh coat of paint. Because your bathroom is the most humid room in your home, and because you use it frequently, it might need a paint job more often than the rest of your home. Since paint is cheap and a quick fix, you can repaint as often as you want to easily transform your home. If you want to go with a bold colour this season (but aren’t sure if you’ll like it long term), the bathroom is such a small space that it’s easy to repaint it again in a few months. It’s a great testing ground.
Upgrade the lighting. We tend to ignore bathroom light fixtures, but good lighting will transform not just the way your bathroom looks, but the way you look. It’s an important feature and one that’s easy and inexpensive to upgrade. Something as simple as a new light shade, spotlights or a dimmer will make your bathroom feel almost entirely new.
