Your new house may need work, and some projects should be done before you even move in. Others should be given more thought.
If roof, plumbing, or electrical repairs are needed to make the house safe and functional, do them before you move in.
Likewise, refinishing hardwood floors, replacing carpets, or repainting walls will be easier before your furniture arrives.
But, if you are thinking about changing the layout, live in the house for a while and see if it’s really necessary.
Remember, don’t start talking to designers or contractors until you and the seller have signed a contract.
And finally, be prepared for projects to take longer than estimates.
