Editor’s Note: This is part of a monthly video series from the National Association of REALTORS® to inform and educate members about important aspects of being a real estate professional. Watch for this series each month in RISMedia’s News.
In response to the concerns about COVID-19, commonly referred to as coronavirus, the National Association of REALTORS® is providing guidance to help REALTORS® respond to the coronavirus’s potential impact on the real estate industry. Updates from NAR and its response to the coronavirus emergency are available at NAR.realtor/Coronavirus.
Also of note, NAR has issued information and guidance on the following:
What about financial assistance for Realtors? My state has been shutdown and I have no other income into my household. What am I supposed to do and I earned too much money to get any of the money that the government is giving to people. How are we supposed to pay our bills and live. When we are able to go back to work who knows how many months we will have to wait before we have a closing. We are not like most industries, it can take months before we receive one paycheck let alone after this disaster between people losing their jobs, stock market crashing, interest rates rising and the virus it self. Who knows how many months before realtors have steady or any income again!!!!
Thank you for your strong compassionate leadership during this uncertain time.
Oh no I can’t believe he stated he was there to support large brokers! This is a major hit to the smaller brokers.
Thank you Vince, I’m sure those in leadership are Lobbying at the National and Sate level to make home sales an “Essential” service. We appreciate your efforts!
Thank you Vince. We appreciate your support and guidance. The information is helpful and we can spread the message to our family members, clients and community. This is important. We will certainly have challenges in our industry and will count on our leaders to help us meet them and stay strong in our personal and business lives during these stressful times.
I think we the realtors should be able to collect some kind of unemployment for this unique circumstance. NYSAR shut us down completely.
We don’t need loans to get us in debt we need Real Estate to be declared as a Essential business in every state! We pay our dues for you to support our interests and to protect our rights to practice real estate! It’s easy for you to sit there and say what you said because I’m sure you get a salary every month! We can practice real estate in a safe way by changing how we show and practice safely measures like all the other essential businesses. Some people have to sell and some buyers need to buy. If one state is considered essential all states should be considered essential! We don’t want your welfare support we want you to protect our industry!! NAR and all the non essential state associations like CAR should give us a refund of our dues for not protecting our right to be an essential business!! Realtors work hard to keep our industry relevant and house values steady and this will set us back to the past real estate collapsed market or worse if we don’t have you working quickly to make real estate an essential business!!
I’m excluded from receiving the $1200 because I make more than $100k. Simply because I make more than $100k doesn’t mean I don’t need assistance.
Vince, as one of 3 brokers in a small but (usually) very busy and productive brokerage firm, I ask that you clarify your statement that you will be providing information to the large brokerages. Perhaps I misunderstood your insinuation, but it seemed to ostracize the small brokerages at a very critical time when we need support and information more than ever — and to know that we are top of mind, not overlooked.
